1 c chopped dates
1 t baking soda
1 c boiling water
1/2 c butter
1 c sugar
1 whole egg
1 t vanilla
1/4 t salt
1 1/2 c sifted flour
1 c chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Pour 1 c boiling water over daates and baking soda, set aside to cool. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. In a separate bowl beat egg lightly. Add in this order, vanilla, salt, flour and pecans. Then add cooled daate mixture. Place in juffin pan and bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Makes a dozen.
