Grandma Young's Christmas Cookies Recipe

1 c. butter; soften at room temp
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 egg yolks
3/4 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, with electric mixer, beat butter and both sugars to cream. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.

Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into cream mixture to make a smooth dough, *adding 2 tsp. of water if needed. Form into a ball, wrap with plastic and chill; Makes about 3 1/2 c. of dough.

Cut-out cookies: Roll the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 in thickness. Cut out with floured cookie cutters. Place on lightly greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 for 5-7 min. or until lightly browned.
