Ralph and Gertrude's Wedding Cake - Fruit Cake

2 scant cups butter
1/2 cups molasses
1/2 cup sour milk
3 cups brown sugar
6 eggs
1 cups nuts
2 lbs. seeded raisins
1 lb. currants
1 tsp. each ground cloves and nutmeg
1 tbsp. each cinnamon and mace
6 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
A wine glass of grape juice
Cream the butter and sugar, add the spices, molasses and sour milk. Stir all well, then add beaten egg yolks and a wine glass of grape juice. Stir thoroughly. Add 6 cups of sifted flour alternately with beaten egg whites. Now dissolve 1 tsp. soda and stir in thoroughly. Mix the fruit together and stir into it 2 tbsp flour -- then stir into the cake. Butter two common sized baking tins. Carefully line with paper well buttered. Bake in moderate oven 2 hours. Store in tight can.
