MARY DAMICO'S "FROM SCRATCH" PIZZA DOUGH Recipe

Ingredients: 6 cups flour 1 cup milk 2 Tblspns. sugar 2 Tblspns. shortening (Crisco) 1 yeast cake or package 1 cup water

Directions:Dissolve yeast cake in cup of lukewarm water - set aside.
Boil milk gently and remove skim. Add sugar and shortening to milk. Cool milk liquid and add egg. Add above liquid to the cup of water with yeast. Add these 2 cups of liquid (gradually) to about 6 cups of salted flour (2 Tblspns). Begin with 4 cups of flour and 2 cups liquid and add flour until it reaches the right consistency (shouldn't stick).
Let rise - punch down- roll out, place on pizza pans (put a little olive oil on bottom of pans) and let rise again before baking.
Add your favorite sauce and toppings and bake at 425 degrees until brown. |

Notes: Mary Damico was Joan's mother. I wish I had met her. Joan says my Mom reminded her of her own. These homemade recipes are the best. Experiment with it if it doesn't come out perfectly right the first time.
Joan and Frank were so good to my Mom. They used to pick her up and take her to the 50+ Club at St. Matthew, since I had to work. Frank also drove her for her chemo treatment pretty regularly. What great people!
