1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs
4 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together, adding the flour last. Put in refrigerator for two hours. Roll into balls the size of a walnut. Place on cookie sheet and flatten with a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes.

This recipe is from Doug Volkman's aunt. These are really melt in your mouth cookies! Probably the best I ever had except for mom's 100 year old friend Helen Nystrom's recipe and she took it to her grave, wouldn't share with anyone, that plain wasn't fair!
