1/2 c. washing soda
1/2 c. borax powder

Directions:
Directions:
Grate the soap and put in a saucepan. Add 6 c. water and heat until soap melts. Add the washing soda and borax and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4 c. hot water into a bucket. Add soap mixture and stir. Now add 1 gallon plus 6 c. of water and stir. Let soap sit for 24 hours and it will gel. Use 1/2 c. per load of laundry

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
A few drops of Essential Oil can be added for a nice smelling scent to the soap. This soap cleans well, however I do miss the fresh scent that store bought laundry soaps create in my clothes and I haven't tried adding the scented oil. That may make the difference.
Another hint: OxyClean added to whites brightens them nicely.
