1/2 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 egg
2 square unsweetened chocolate
3/4 c buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp vanilla
13/4 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
chopped nuts if preferred

Directions:
Directions:
bake at 400º

1. Cream shortening, sugar and egg. Add cool melted chocolate and vanilla.
2. Sift dry ingredients together and add to cream mixture alternating with milk. Add chopped nuts.
3. Drop on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for about 8-10 minutes or until firm to touch. Do not over bake.
4. Frost with white or chocolate cream frosting.
