Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
1 cup sugar
2 cup flour
sift together in large bowl
1/2 cup (1 stick) oleo
1/2 cup criso
4 tablespoon cocoa
1 cup water
put in saucepan, bring to a rapid boil and pour over flour and sugar. Stir well.
Then add:
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs slightly beaten
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix
Pour into a jelly roll pan and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes
Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
4 tablespoon cocoa
6 tablespoon cream
bring to a boil
Pour over box of powder sugar
1 cup nut
1 cup marshmallows
1 teaspoon vanilla
mix and frost warm cake.

Direction are above. If in a hurry use a chocolate cake mix in jelly roll pan and frost with the above. You can also use the frosting on brownies. I double the frosting for Jack.

This cake was the most popular cake of the 70’s and early 80’s in our community. There would always be at least 2 at pot lucks, normally one with nuts and one without. To make buttermilk use whole milk with vinegar or lemon juice to curdle. The cake travels well and is easy to serve.
