1 c. Shortening
1/2 c. Water, boiling
3 c. Flour
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Baking Powder
4-6 c. Apple slices
2 T. Cornstarch
1 c. Sugar
3/4 tsp. Cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening and boiling water together until creamy and fluffy. Add flour, salt and baking powder. Refrigerate until stiff. Take from refrigerator and let warm slightly. Roll out 1/2 dough to cover bottom of jelly roll pan. Mix apples, cornstarch, cinnamon and sugar. Place on dough. Roll out remaining dough and place on top of apples. Bake at 400º for 15 minutes, then at 325º until apples are soft and crust is lightly browned. Frost lightly with powdered sugar frosting.

May use same dough recipe for Cherry Slices. Just use cherries, 1 1/4 c. sugar, 4 T. cornstarch and 1 tsp. almond extract.
