1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 T. Milk
4 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. of baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla.
Mix together sifted flour, soda, salt and cream of tartar. Add to butter/egg mixture.
Mix well.
Prepare dough in round balls.
Press down with class dipped in sugar. Sprinkle extra sugar if desired.
Bake 350º for 9-10 minutes
