2-6 oz. pkgs. dried apples
1 3/4 c water
4-5 T. sugar
2 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 c melted butter or margarine
2 eggs
4 c all-purpose flour
1 T. soda
1 T. ground nutmeg
1 T. ground cloves
1 T. ground cinnamon
1 c cold water
1-15 oz. box raisins
1 c chopped pecans

Combine apples and 1 3/4 cups water. Cover and cook until water is absorbed. Cool slightly; mash. Add 4-5 tablespoons sugar, and set aside. Combine brown sugar, butter, and eggs in a large mixing bowl; beat well. Stir in apples. Combine dry ingredients; add to apple mixture alternately with 1 cup water, beating well after each addition. Stir in raisins and pecans. Pour batter into a greased 13x9x2" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done.
