2 cans asparagus drained and 3/4 cup juice reserved
1 can cream of asparagus soup (or cream of mushroom)
1-2 slices American cheese, (optional)
6 slices bread, cubed
1/4 cup melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º. Grease a 2 quart casserole dish. Mix soup with juice from asparagus until smooth (gravy consistency); spread about 1/2 cup in bottom of dish. Layer asparagus in dish; spoon remaining soup mixture over top. Layer 1-2 slices of American cheese, if desired.
Place bread cubes in a large bowl. Drizzle melted butter over cubes while tossing gently with a fork to coat evenly. Layer over asparagus. Bake until bubbly and bread is golden brown, 25-30 minutes.
