cornbread 6 c make ahead get recipe off box; (Quaker Corn Meal)
double the recipe
3/4 c. cornmeal
1 1/4 cups flour
1/4 c sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c milk
1/4 c vegetable oil
1 egg
don't forget to double this recipe.

Preheat oven to 400 º. Grease your big black 12" diameter skillet with vegetable or corn oil and place it in the oven. Pour batter into the heated skillet(it may sizzle a little) and bake for 20-25 minutes.
In lieu of skillet use a 9x13 pan.

Putting the skillet into the oven was a trick shown to me by Gangy. It is a foolproof way to get the cornbread not to stick to the bottom of the pan.
