1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. soda mixed with 1/2 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. flour
2 c. pecans
8 oz. dates
1 1/2 c. coconut
1 lb. orange slice candy

Icing:
1 c. frozen orange juice concentrate
2 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. grated orange rind (optional)

Directions:
Cream butter, sugar and eggs, adding in eggs one at a time. Add buttermilk/soda mixture and 3 cups flour. Mix pecans, dates, coconut and orange slices with 1/2 cup flour. Blend into batter. Line two or three loaf pans with foil (or grease and flour instead). Add batter and bake at 325º for 1 hour. While hot, pour icing over tops and cool. Put cake in refrigerator overnight before removing from pan. Will freeze well.
