Pastry:
1/3 C. butter, softened
1/4 C. sugar
1 egg yolk, beaten
1 C. flour

Filling:
2 C. chopped pecans or walnuts
2/3 C. brown sugar
1/4 C. butter
1/4 C. dark corn syrup or molasses
2 T. heavy cream

Directions:
Directions:
Mix pastry ingredients and blend till crumbly. Spread in bottom of torte pan.

Place chopped nuts on cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 5 minutes.

Add remaining ingredients in sauce pan and stir bringing to a boil over medium heat. Place nuts in pastry and pour mixture over nuts. Bake at 375 till bubbly (approx. 10 minutes). Serve warm with whip cream or ice cream if desired.

This is a great rich dessert and very easy. It is good served warm or cold. Whip cream and ice cream are great toppings.
