1 c. sugar
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. soft butter
1 egg
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 or 4 grated apples
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter together. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Bake in a 8x8 greased pan at 350º for 30 min. Serve with sauce.

SAUCE:
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. light cream or canned milk
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
dash nutmeg
Heat butter,sugar, cream, vanilla and nutmeg, stirring constantly. Stir in thickening, cook until thickened.
