1 - 3 1/3 oz. pkg. unsalted (or salted and omit salt) soda crackers
3 - 7 oz. cans oysters
light cream or milk
1 tsp. salt (don't need if use salted crackers)
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 tbsp. butter or margarine

Directions:
Crumble crackers coarsely. Drain oysters and measure liquid. Add enough light cream or milk to make 1 3/4 cups liquid. In bottom of well buttered 1 1/2 qt. casserole, place about 1/4 crumbled crackers. Arrange about 1/3 of oysters over crumbs. Sprinkle with some of the salt, pepper and dot with 1 tbsp. butter. Repeat layers ending with crackers and butter. Add the 1 3/4 cups liquid.
Bake at 375º for 1 hour or until top is crusty.
