1/3 C lard
1 C raisins, 1 C nuts
1 C water
1 C sugar
2 C cake flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1 T water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix raisins, sugar, lard, salt, spices, 1 C water; boil 3 minutes & let cool.
Sift flour and baking powder. Dissolve soda in 1 T cold water. Pour cooked mixture into bowl, add rest of ingredients. Beat several minutes.
Bake in 9x9 greased pan in 350º oven.
