2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/3 cup shortening
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add egg and buttermilk. Roll out about 1/4 inch thick and cut into long strips like noodles only about 1- 1/2 inches wide. Cook covered about 15 minutes in boiling chicken broth.

Mom (Zella Cauble) always boiled a chicken and brought the liquid to a boil and then dropped in the dumplings which were about 1-1/12 inched wide and maybe 1/4 inch thick.
