2 c. flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cream of tarter
3/4 c. butter
1 egg, beaten
1 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450º. Combine flours, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar, mix well. Cut in butter until coarse. Add egg and milk, mixing quickly. Turn out on the counter and knead lightly on a floured surface. Roll to a 1" thickness. Cut 1" or 2" biscuits. Place in greased 10" iron skillet or 9" pan, and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. For crusty biscuits, separate on a cookie sheet, then bake.
