1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell
1 (10 oz.) pkg. asparagus spears
¾ cup milk
¾ cup half and half
½ cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
Dash pepper
3 eggs lightly beaten
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

Bake pie shell at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Prepare asparagus as directed on package and drain. Combine milk, cream, onion, salt, nutmeg and pepper in saucepan. Bring to boil, then simmer one minute. Stir in eggs. Sprinkle 2/3 of the cheese in slightly baked pie shell. Arrange asparagus over cheese. Pour in egg mixture. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until knife inserted one inch from center comes out clean.
