1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. almond extract
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp.baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375. Combine butter and sugars in mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy. Blend in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, cream of tartar and soda until dough forms a soft ball. Roll pieces of dough into 1" balls and place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Dip bottom of glass into plain or colored sugar and press onto each ball lightly. Bake 8-10 min. or until edges are lightly browned. Cool a minute before removing.
