1½ Fruit Sugar
12 Eggs well beaten
½ Cup Strong Coffee
1 tsp Almond Flavoring
1 tsp Lemon Flavoring
2 tsp Vanilla
6 Pounds Seedless Raisins
3/4 Citron Peel
1 lb Candied Cherries
1 lb Dates
1 lb Blanched Almonds
2 Tbsp Grape Jelly
1 Orange, Rind and Juice
7 Cups Sifted All purpose Flour
½ tsp Mace
1 tsp Cinnamon
½ tsp Cloves
¼ tsp Nutmeg
¾ tsp baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
¾ Dairy Sour Cream
1 Lemon, Rind and Juice
Brandy, Rye or Rum for Soaking Fruit

Directions:

Prepare fruit and nuts; blend with grape jelly, juices and brandy. Let stand overnight. Cream butter until fluffy. Gradually stir in sugar, beating thoroughly after each addition, add eggs and beat well. Stir in flavorings.
Sift together flour, spices soda and salt. Add flour mixture and sour cream alternately to creamed batter, beginning and ending with flour. Fold in fruit and nuts. Turn into deep pans lined with 3 layers of heavy brown paper.

Place a small pan of water in the oven while the fruit cake is baking to keep it moist.
Bake @ 275º F for approximately 5 hours

Mom always soaked fruit in Brandy and would adjust dried fruits. A lot of times she would use Marmalade instead of grape jelly.
