1 cup sugar
1/3 cup hot water
2 egg whites
dash of salt
dash of cream of tarter
1/2 tsp vanilla or almond flavoring
2 tbsp cornstarch **

Directions:
Directions:
Bring sugar and water to boil until it spins a thread when pouring from a spoon. Beat two egg whites until stiff. Pour syrup into egg whites slowly using a mixer, beating constantly. Add flavorings and cream of tarter.

**Mom's note on this card indicated to add the cornstarch so the frosting dries out better......assuming this recipe is for the Christmas ginger cookies (Sally Ann's). Otherwise, omit the corn starch for a general fluffy white frosting for a cake.
