2 cups pitted dates (1 lb)
1 cup boiling water
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp lemon

Rolled Oats Mixture
1 1/4 cups rolled oats
1 1/4 cups white flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp soda
3/4 cup butter

Filling:
Cut in pieces. Add brown sugar and boiling water. Cook until smooth. Add lemon and cool.

Rolled Oats Mixture
Sift flour and soda. Cream butter and sugar. Add rolled oats and flour mixture and crumb together. Grease pan well, press about 1/2 mixture into bottom of pan. Spread on date paste. Put rest of crumb mixture on and press down.

Bake in 350ºF oven for 20 minutes.
