3 c natural bran (or all-bran)
3 c buttermilk (or soured milk)
1 c white sugar
1 c brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 c vegetable oil
3 tsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 c white flour
3 tsp baking powder
Optional: raisins, nuts etc

Directions:
Directions:
In a separate bowl soak bran in buttermilk. Set aside. In another large bowl mix sugar, eggs and oil. Add baking soda, salt and vanilla. Add bran and buttermilk to this mixture. Mix baking powder and flour, stir by hand into other ingredients.
Stir in raisins. ( 1 to 2 cups). Do not over mix. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full.
Bake in 375º F oven for 15 to 20 mins or until done.
