5 cups self-rising flour
2 tbs sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 cups buttermilk
1pkg dry active yeast (rapid rise)
1 cup Crisco
1/4 cup like warm water (104-110 degrees)

Directions:
Mix yeast and water well and set aside. Mix all dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Grease 3 or more 9" cake pans or one large baking sheet. Pour yeast mixture into buttermilk. Mix well pour into dry ingredients. Mix until dough pulls away from the bowl.Turn out on floured surface. Pat out dough after kneading 10-12 times until 1/2"thick. Cut with 2 " biscuit cutter.Place biscuits on greased pans. Cover with cloth or paper towel. Let rise for 45 min. Cook in 400 pre-heated oven for 15-20min or until golden brown. Brush with melted butter.
*Note* If you don't want to serve all biscuits at one time; cut cooking time to 10 min. Let cool.Place 4-6 biscuits in ziplock bags and refrigerate. When wanted cook 10 more min in 400 preheated oven.
