1/4 C. Lard (or equivalent)
3/4 C. Sugar
pinch of Salt
1 Egg

Dry Ingredients - sift together
1 tsp. baking soda
1 3/4 C. Flour
1 tsp. Nutmeg
1 tsp. Cinnamon


1 C. Raisins
1/2 C. Raisin water
(Simmer raisins in enough water to cover them for about 1 hour)


Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and add sugar. Add salt and egg.
Add dry ingredients alternating with water
Add raisins.

Pour into a 9.x 13 pan.
Bake for 25. minutes at 350º

Ice with mixture of powdered sugar and water

Mom made these during harvest , They were an easy treat to take to the men in the fields. She also made them when they bailed hay or straw.
