1 c. Soft butter
1 egg
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. Salt
1 c. Powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 1/2 c. Flour
1/2 tsp. Red food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Method: Mix butter, Sugar, egg, and flavoring. Sift flour and salt together and add to first mixture. Mix. Divide dough into halves. Blend 1/2 tsp. red food coloring into one half, and leave the other half white. Roll one tsp. dough of each color into four inch strips. Place strips side by side, press together at the ends and roll like a rope. Curve top like a cane. Bake about 9 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. While hot, sprinkle with crushed candy cane and sugar.
