Hassenpfeffer

1/2 cup vinegar
2 cups water
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. whole cloves
2 teaspoons sugar
4 bay leaves
1 medium onion, sliced
1 3--4 # rabbit, cut in pieces

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients for a marinade. Put cut up rabbit pieces into the marinade and refrigerate 8--12 hours. (Overnight is good.)

Save liquid and onion. Discard bay leaves and cloves. Pat rabbit pieces and season with salt and pepper; dredge in flour.
Brown rabbit pieces in oil; add liquid and onion slices and cover with several bacon slices. Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer. Simmer until rabbit pieces are tender; thicken sauce with a little more flour.

Enjoy!!! Great with mashed potatoes and garden greens.
