Ingredients:
Ingredients:
12 eggs
2 lbs butter - room temp
1 lb powdered sugar
1/2 lb all purpose flour (~1 cup, maybe a bit more)
Approx:
5 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground cloves
2 Tbsp ground cardamom
1 bottle (1 oz) rum flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
1. Separate eggs. Keep only 6 egg whites in a small bowl. Then beat the egg whites till peaks form and set aside.
2. In a large mixer bowl cream 1 lb butter and powdered sugar till it looks white then add the 12 egg yolks, and cream again until white.
3. Divide the "white" batter almost in half. Take the smaller half of the batter and add run flavoring and spices. Mix well. Divide the egg whites separately between the two batters and fold in. You now have 2 batters which are easy to spread (spice/dark and white/light).
4. Melt (do not boil) 1 lb of butter in a small pan for basting
5. Pre-heat oven to 350º - grease and flour an 8 x 8 square pan or 9' round baking pan - pan must be at least 3'' deep.
6. Start with enough dark/spiced batter to thinly cover the bottom of the baking pan - approx 2 to 3 Tbsp (more if needed). Bake until done (5-10) minutes.
6. When first layer is done, take pan out of the oven, switch oven to Broil at 325º degrees.
7: Begin layering process. Alternate dark/light batters basting between each layer until finished. Each layer should broil until no longer doughy. Dark layers may take more time then while layers. Please note that you may have to reduce the heat to 300º as the layers get closer to the broiler to prevent burning. Continue until you reach the top of the pan or run out of batter.
8. Remove cake and cool completely before cutting.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This takes about 3 to 4 hours and you will constantly be on your feet. It can also take a bit of guess work (especially the first time) to figure out how long to broil the different layers. Once you've figured out the times that work best for your oven be sure to write it down so you've got it for next time.
