1 cup (2 sticks) soft butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1 ½ teaspoons almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 ½ cups flour


Directions:

In large bowl combine first 5 ingredients,
beat until smooth then mix in the flour slowly
Separate into 2 equal size balls, add 2 drops red food coloring to one if you want you may add a couple drops of peppermint extract or crushed candy cane to the red dough .
Then take a small amount form the red dough and from the white dough and roll out into
A long about 3-4 inches long then put them side by side and gentle, slowly intertwine them
Like you are braiding. Carefully place them on a greased baking sheet , (parchment sheets work well )
Bake @ 375 for 10 minutes
Let cool for 5 minutes before taking off baking sheet very carefully using spatula take off baking sheet and place onto an area for them to cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar
