2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 ½ pounds beef chuck cut in 1 inch cubes
2 tablespoons shortening
2 10 ½ ounce cans condensed tomato soup
1 ½ cups chopped onion
½ teaspoon dried basil crushed
4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 medium carrots, cut in 1 inch pieces
½ cup dry red wine or water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, salt, and dark pepper; coat meat cubes in seasoned flour. Brown in hot shortening in dutch over; add soup, 2 ½ cups water, onion, and basil. Cover and bake in 375 oven about one hour. Add potatoes , carrots and whine cover and bake one out longer or until tender (usually takes longer) makes 4-6 servings
