1/2 Cup white sugar
3 TBS unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 Cup cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
2 3/4 Cups milk (whole or 2%)
1 tsp vanilla
2 TBS butter

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt in a heavy saucepan (whisk works well). Heat over medium heat, adding milk slowly. Bring to a boil and cook until mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla. Let cool briefly. Serve warm or chill before serving.

My grandmother and mother (Vallie and Irene) used to make this as an evening snack. It is SO good and so healthy compared to packaged puddings.
