1 # raisins
1 # yellow raisins
½ # currants
½ # suet or shortening
3 cups sugar
1 TBSP. salt
½ TBS. nutmeg
½ tsp. pepper
5# cooking apples
½ # mixed glazed fruit

Directions:
Directions:
Peel apples
Boil peelings with 3 cups of water for 5 minutes and save the juice
Grind the apples and suet in grinder or food processor.
Add 2 cups of juice. If to dry add some more juice or water. Don’t make it to wet or pie will be soggy
Add raisins and other ingredients
Place about 4 ½ cups in pie shell and bake
Makes 4 pies
Freeze what you don’t use

Bake 400°for 45-55 minutes or until crust is golden brown
Cover edges with foil the last 20 minutes to prevent burning the edges
Cool on wire rack
