1 stick butter
1 C sugar
1 C flour
1½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
¾ C milk
1 can pitted tart cherries (or canned peaches)
½ C sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Melt butter in 9" square pan in oven while it is heating. Meanwhile, beat together sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Pour batter over melted butter, but do not stir. Pour can of cherries, including the juice over the batter. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350ºF for 30-45 min.
