2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
½ c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
¾ c. canola oil
1 large egg, room temperature
1 tsp. grated lemon zest
1½ c. chopped fresh figs or plums (about 9 small)

Topping:
2 T. sugar
2 T. chopped pecans
¼ tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugars, baking soda and salt. In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, oil, egg and lemon zest. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in plums. Pour into two greased 8x4 inch loaf pans.
Combine the topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350° for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.

You can substitute other fruits.
