8 medium apples, cored
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp allspice
1 tsp cinnamon
1 stick unsalted butter
2/3 cup apple cider, room temperature
1 quart heavy cream

Directions:
Directions:
Combine the walnuts, sugar, allspice, and cinnamon.
Fill the center of each apple with an equal amount of the mixture.
Place in a deep baking pan, ensuring that the apples do not touch.
Dot the top of each apple with 1 tablespoon butter.
Pour the cider into the pan and sprinkle with any remaining filling.
Bake at 350º for 45 - 50 minutes.
When the skin is just beginning to split around the top and the apples are easily pierced with a fork, they are done.
Remove from the oven and baste the apples with the syrup.
Just before serving, transfer to a wide serving bowl.
Pour the remaining syrup and cream over each apple.
Serve immediately.
