You’ll need ripe avocados, a good quality crusty bread like a baguette or ciabatta, fresh garlic, olive oil, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, lemon juice, and salt and pepper. Optional toppings like feta cheese, chili flakes, or balsamic glaze can be added to elevate the flavors even further.

Begin by slicing the bread into thick pieces and brushing them with olive oil. Toast the slices in the oven at 400° for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Meanwhile, in a bowl, mash the avocados with a fork and mix in the lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Once the bread is toasted, rub each slice with a clove of fresh garlic for an extra layer of flavor.

Spread a generous amount of the smashed avocado mixture onto each slice of toasted bread. Top with halved cherry tomatoes, torn basil leaves, and a drizzle of olive oil. If desired, sprinkle with feta cheese or a pinch of chili flakes for a bit of heat. Finish with a drizzle of balsamic glaze for a sweet and tangy finish. Serve immediately and enjoy!
