1/2 cup chopped onion
1 tsp. Salt
1/4 cup chopped green pepper (if desired)
Dash pepper
8 oz. Can (1 c.) Tomato sauce
1/4 tsp. Dried thyme, crushed
2 beaten eggs
2 lbs. ground beef (or one and 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef and 1/2 lbs. ground pork)
4 oz. (1c.) diced process American cheese
1 c. Soft breadcrumbs (1 ½ slices bread)
Directions:
Directions:
Sautéed onion and green pepper till tender in small amount of oil or margarine. Drain off any excess oil. Stir in tomato sauce, eggs, cheese, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper and thyme. Add ground meats, mixing well. Shape into loaf in baking dish. Bake at 350° oven for 1 ½ hours.
