1 1/2 cups peeled diced peaches
8 Tbls plus 1 tsp sugar
2 Tbls cream
Pastry dough:
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup shortening
1/3 cup cold water

Directions:
Directions:
First make the dough: Mix together the flour and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in shortening until crumbly. Add water 1 tablespoon at a time, tossing with a fork. Press dough into a ball, then transfer to a lightly floured board. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick, then cut into 10 4 inch rounds. Preheat oven to 400º , grease a baking sheet and set aside.
Distribute peaches evenly among the rounds, then sprinkle each with 2 tsp of sugar. Moisten edges of dough with water and fold over peaches to create a half moon. Press edges to seal. Paint top of each turnover with cream and sprinkle with 1/2 tsp sugar. Place turnovers on baking sheet at least 1 inch apart. Bake 20 minutes.
